Set among vineyards and olive groves outside the village of Blauvac (now with its own bar and restaurant) with spectacular views of Mt Ventoux and hills of Monts de Vaucluse, the house is an hour's drive from the vibrant port of Marseille.

It is within easy reach of historic Avignon (with its famous bridge and papal palace), Roman cities of Nimes and Orange (with amphitheatres), towns like Arles and Aix-en-Provence that inspired Van Gogh and Cezanne.

There are local markets on nearly every day in nearby villages with sleepy bars and excellent restaurants. Close-by are the vineyards of Dentelles, famed for its Gigondas and Chateauneuf de Pape wines, and the walking, swimming and cycling of the Pays de Ventoux. For info on bke hire, wine tours and walks - including a nocturnal ascent of Ventoux to see the sunrise over Mont Blanc - visit a tourist office.
